Adam S. Katz

Mr. Katz has more than twenty-five years of experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases involving breach of contract, employee defection and recruitment, trade secrets misappropriation, restrictive covenants (non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-piracy agreements), employment agreements, EEOC charges, State and Federal securities laws, real estate, shareholder disputes, State and Federal RICO, mergers and acquisitions, the Uniform Commercial Code (including Articles 2, 3, and 4), health care, and general business disputes.

Mr. Katz regularly handles “business divorces” involving allegations of unfair competition, misuse of confidential information, employee breaches of fiduciary duties, and interference with contractual and business relations.

Mr. Katz has represented publicly traded, private companies, and financial institutions against former employees, employees against their former employers, and competing businesses against one another. During his career, Mr. Katz served as first and second chair in a number of jury and non-jury trials throughout the country. Mr. Katz has also successfully represented clients in appellate matters before both State and Federal courts of appeals.

In addition to traditional litigation, Mr. Katz is proficient in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration. He also spends a good deal of time advising clients on how to best avoid or limit their exposure to litigation, including assistance with reviewing and drafting employee handbooks and personnel policies.

Mr. Katz lives in Sandy Springs with his wife, Melinda, a physical therapist with Emory. Their son Josh is a student-athlete (baseball) at University of Georgia and their daughter Rachel is a student at University of Miami. In his free time, Mr. Katz enjoys playing tennis, spending time with the family dogs, and slowly adjusting to being an empty-nester. Mr. Katz and his family are members of Temple Sinai in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
